This course module covers the complete process of stripping, cleaning, machining (if required), and reassembling a cylinder head to restore correct valve sealing, compression, and performance. This hands‑on session is ideal for owners and enthusiasts wanting confidence and understanding of top‑end rebuild techniques.

What This Course Includes

  1. Full strip‑down of the cylinder head: Removal of valves, valve springs, retainers, seals, collets, and other valve‑gear components to expose combustion chambers and valve seats.
  2. Thorough cleaning: Combustion chambers, ports, valve faces and valve seats are cleaned to remove carbon buildup, deposits, and residue using appropriate workshop methods.
  3. Inspection and assessment: Components are examined for wear, pitting, leakage or other faults that compromise compression sealing and valve‑train operation.
  4. Machining work (as required): Re‑cutting or re‑facing valve seats, re‑grinding valve faces, replacing or re‑lining worn valve guides, and fitting new valve stem seals.
  5. Reassembly: Valves, springs, retainers, collets and seals are reinstalled, followed by rocker gear, camshaft components, pushrods and rocker arms in original configuration.
  6. Adjustment & verification: Valve lash or preload is set to correct specification, sealing is checked (compression or seating tests as appropriate), and valve movement is tested for smooth operation.
